HB 484 -·Requires the Division of Purchasing to establish a goal of buying at least 3% of goods and services from a person with a significant mental or physical impairment or a business or agency employing or serving these persons. (See also HB 709)

Atkins v. Virginia: In 2001 we sponsored the bill that the legislature passed and the governor signed, which abolished the death penalty for persons with developmental disabilities in Missouri. In 2002 the U.S. Supreme Court issued a landmark ruling which declared the execution of individuals with intellectual disability unconstitutional.
Rosa's Law: In October of 2010 it was decided that the term “mental retardation” would be replaced with “intellectual disability” and the phrase “the mentally retarded” would be changed to “individuals with intellectual disabilities” in Federal law references.
